Logistics Management From Pit to Port

As material handling and processing plant are increasing in scale and developing in more remote locations to service new deposits, there is a trend to construct these assets with preassembled modules to reduce project schedule, cost and risk associated with onsite stick build construction. Rigorous logistics planning and execution is required to deliver this equipment from fabrication yard to site.

Westlink has in-house capability and experience in providing logistics to deliver modules and other equipment for both Greenfield and Brownfield projects for materials handling systems, dump stations, conveyor systems, crushing and screening plants, stacking and reclaiming. Our service doesn’t stop at project phase with ongoing supply chain management during operations for production and maintenance.

Some key specific capabilities that can be provided include:

  • Transportation of oversized material handling components – bins, conveyor trusses, stackers, reclaimers and other equipment
  • Site delivery for direct installation from transportation solution
Loading solutions from fabrication facility marine facilities and discharge at mine site port infrastructure
  • Route survey planning for port to site and on site movements for equipment
  • Quarantine and transportation preparation prior to shipment including – inspections, cleaning, wrapping and dunnage
  • Design of transportation frames for equipment and modules
  • Transportation planning and management to eliminate disruption to existing operations and production
