Westlink was engaged to provide a multimodal logistics solution for structural steel, trusses and chutes from Tianjin, China to the AGL Loy Yang operation site in New South Wales, Australia to be used in the construction of a new mobile coal conveyor for a power plant.

SCOPE

  • Pre-shipment inspections at fabrication yard in Tianjin, China

  • Multipurpose Vessel (MPP) – Tianjin to Barry Beach Marine Terminal (BBMT), Australia

  • Oversized haulage – from vessel hook at BBMT to AGL Loy Yang project site

  • Construction coordination – coordination with site team to unload trailers into laydown

Mining Specific Logistics

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Zero LTIs

  • 12,000 cubic metres (cbm) of steel with heaviest lift 130 metric tons

  • Front end design input into modularisation and preassembly from route survey and other engineering

  • Second cargo vessel ever to call BBMT which required careful vessel selection considering pilotage, draft and LOA restrictions at the private marine terminal

  • Transport of oversized pieces with escort through built up areas in New South Wales with one piece spanning 42 metres long

  • Delivery to installation points and laydown at AGL Loy Yang project site
